Espanyol star wanted by Bundesliga clubs

More than one Bundesliga club have already made known their interest in bringing Espanyol star Roberto Fernández to Germany with a view to next season.

That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who has this week provided an insight into the situation.

Frontman Fernández is for his part fresh off a memorable opening to the new campaign. Leading the line for the aforementioned Espanyol, the 24-year-old has found the net six times in seven La Liga appearances.

This impressive form culminated in a first-ever call-up to the Spanish national team last month, with Fernández having since gone on to play a starring role in a 3-1 victory over Czechia last weekend.

These exploits are already understood to have piqued the attention of some of Spanish football’s leading clubs, with a view to a potential future transfer…

And as alluded to above, the interest in Fernández’s services now appears to have made its way beyond the borders of his home country, too. As per a report from market insider Florian Plettenberg of Sky:

‘Roberto Fernández, one to watch over the next two transfer windows. The 24 y/o striker has made his Spain debut and enjoyed a 6-goal start with Espanyol in LaLiga.

‘Under contract until 2031. First Bundesliga clubs have already registered their interest for next summer.’
