Espanyol star Javi Puado has this week moved to assure that he would not be tempted by the prospect of linking back up with former teammate Joan García at Barcelona down the line.
Goalkeeper Joan of course took his place front and centre in the headlines across Spain earlier this summer.
This came after the 24-year-old made the call to cross the Catalan divide, departing Espanyol for bitter rivals Barcelona.
The move culminated in heavy backlash on the part of fans of the former, furious with a player considered to be one of La Liga’s very best in his position.
Speaking during an interview with RAC1 (as cited by Mundo Deportivo) this week, the question of whether he could be tempted by a similar Camp Nou switch was therefore put to Espanyol captain Javi Puado.
And the striker made use of the opportunity to reassure the Pericos faithful, explaining:
“No, I wouldn’t leave. For no reason. With a really good offer? I hope I don’t get the offer, but no. I’m at
Espanyol, the club that has given me everything. I think 100% I wouldn’t leave. But the thing is, I haven’t received it yet. If Barça wants you, it’s likely that another good team will also want you. I’m telling you what I feel right now, you know? What I feel right now is that I wouldn’t leave.”
