England boss Southgate confirms Jude Bellingham’s La Liga ‘frustrations’

Gareth Southgate, head coach of the England national team, has provided an insight into the frustrations being endured by midfield standout Jude Bellingham in La Liga at present.

Bellingham, all told, has of course enjoyed a stellar start to life in Spain, since making the move to Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund last summer.

All told, in 31 appearances across all competitions, the 20-year-old has racked up a remarkable 29 direct goal contributions.

And yet, recent weeks have proven something of a struggle for Bellingham.

After first being forced into a spell on the sidelines through injury, the one-time Birmingham City talent then picked up a two-game suspension, for his protests in the aftermath of being denied a last-gasp winner against Valencia in the most controversial of fashions.

Speaking in anticipation of England’s high-profile friendly meeting with Brazil on Saturday, the subject of such woes was in turn put to the aforementioned Gareth Southgate.

And, in his response, the Three Lions’ headmaster went on to confirm that Bellingham has indeed been left ‘frustrated’ by recent developments in Madrid:

“The last few weeks have been difficult for him,” Southgate began, as cited by Diario AS. “With injuries and a red card, he’s been a bit frustrated.”

“We’re very happy and lucky to have him, but he is still 20 years old. The success of our team will depend on our entire group.”
