La Liga giants Barcelona consider Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries a perfect fit in their plans for next season.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the situation.
The name of defender Dumfries has of course all of a sudden emerged as an altogether prominent one in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital.
This comes amid the understanding that Barcelona, through super agent Jorge Mendes, have been offered the chance to bring the Dutch international in this summer.
And though no decision regarding a potential move for the wing-back has been made as of yet, Dumfries appears to slot ideally into the vision of those behind the scenes at the Camp Nou.
As per a report from MD:
‘The Barça sports department, when addressing what to do with the right flank of the defence, determined that a signing would only be considered if the player was a top player, decisive and differential.’
With Dumfries – who notched five goal contributions in two outings against Barcelona in the Champions League this past season – considered precisely that, he therefore ‘fits perfectly into the club’s plan’.
It now remains to be seen if Deco and co. opt to pull the trigger on a move for Dumfries, whose contract contains a €25 million release clause, over the weeks ahead.
