‘Didn’t like him’ – Ex-Barcelona chief explains why he advised against signing Real Madrid star

Former Barcelona scout Bojan Krkic senior has this week provided an insight into the negative report which he prepared on Aurélien Tchouaméni, prior to the Frenchman’s move to Real Madrid.

Midfielder Tchouaméni has of course been plying his trade in Spain’s capital for the last three seasons.

This comes after the Real Madrid brass agreed to fork over a considerable €80 million, to bring the now-24-year-old in in the summer of 2022.

Despite frequent criticism over the early months of the new campaign, Tchouaméni’s La Liga stint, all told, has proven to be of a positive nature, with the France international having long proven himself a key member of Carlo Ancelotti’s engine room ranks.

Safe to say, then, that supporters of Spanish football’s two leading clubs will no doubt be interested to hear that, prior to his arrival in Madrid, Tchouaméni was also being scouted by arch rivals Barcelona.

As much was confirmed by Bojan Krkic sr. on Thursday.

Speaking during an interview with SER, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, the Spaniard, father of current Blaugrana board member Bojan, opened up on his trips to France to watch Tchouaméni in action with AS Monaco.

The ex-scout also revealed, though, why he ultimately advised the Camp Nou board against sanctioning a move for the midfielder:

“I went to see him two or three times, against PSG and Marseille. In my reports I always put the same thing: he has power, strength, aggressiveness in marking, even excessive, but creativity; little. His lack of creativity was not for a big club. I didn’t like him.”
