La Liga giants Barcelona have moved forward with an opening proposal for a member of the defensive ranks at German champions Bayer Leverkusen.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Jonathan Tah as the player in question.
The name of stopper Tah has of course positioned itself front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital across the week to date.
This comes amid widespread confirmation that Barcelona have identified the 28-year-old as a potential late-window signing.
Owing to the injuries suffered by all of Ronald Araújo, Andreas Christensen and Eric García, the brass at the Camp Nou have been left with little choice but to seek out emergency reinforcements at centre-back.
And Tah, ahead of the expiration of his contract with Bayer Leverkusen in 12 months’ time, has been earmarked as one potential solution.
Not only that, but, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then Barcelona have gone as far as to table an opening bid for his signature.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘Barça have already submitted a formal offer of 20 million for the 28-year-old Bayer Levekusen centre-back Jonathan Tah.’
Though Bayern Munich are also firmly in the hunt for the stopper, Barca are said to be ‘confident’ of getting a deal done, in the knowledge that Leverkusen are understandably eager not to reinforce a direct rival.
