Details: Atlético Madrid table improved offer for key defensive target

La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have moved forward with a fresh offer for a long-standing defensive target.

That’s according to transfer insider Santi Aouna, who points towards Dávid Hancko as the player in question.

The name of defender Hancko of course took its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital over the early weeks of the summer transfer window.

As much came after word was forthcoming that the Slovakian international had been identified as a leading transfer target on the part of the aforementioned Atlético.

Amid ongoing efforts to reinforce the heart of the club’s backline, the brass at the Wanda Metropolitano earmarked Hancko as the ideal profile.

Lengthy talks, in turn, were kicked into gear with Dutch heavyweights Feyenoord, in an effort to find a transfer agreement.

In the end, no such accord was found.

But, evidently, this does not mean that Diego Simeone and co. have given up hope of landing their man…

In fact, as per a report from the aforementioned Santi Aouna, Atléti’s pursuit remains very much alive.

The Rojiblancos, it is understood, on Wednesday tabled a new-and-improved bid for Hancko, coming in around the €30 million mark.

The proposal in question also featured a sell-on clause for Feyenoord, with negotiations between the clubs, as a result, back in full swing.
