Departing Barcelona star receives offer from Turkey

A recently-departed member of the midfield ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona has received a transfer proposal by way of Turkey.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing Turkish journalist Resat Can Özbudak, who points towards Oriol Romeu as the player in question.

Experienced midfielder Romeu is for his part fresh off bringing his 2nd stint on Barcelona’s books to a close.

After the 33-year-old spent last season on loan at Girona, it was quickly made clear to Romeu and his entourage that he did not feature in the plans of Hansi Flick for the campaign ahead.

With a lack of sufficient offers on the table, the call, in turn, was ultimately made to terminate the one-time Southampton man’s contract late last month.

Romeu has since been available as a free agent.

And as alluded to above, this week, the experienced midfielder has received a tempting proposal.

As per a report from MD:

‘Konyaspor has made its move in the transfer market and has presented an official offer for Oriol Romeu.’

It now remains to be seen if the Spaniard himself is keen on the prospect of a move to Turkey.
