Premier League giants Manchester United are taking into consideration a move for a recently-departed member of the defensive ranks at Atlético Madrid.
That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Mario Hermoso as the player in question.
Stopper Hermoso, for his part, currently finds himself as a free agent.
This comes after the 29-year-old came to the decision not to pen fresh terms, upon the expiration of his deal with the aforementioned Atlético.
A number of clubs are since understood to have expressed an interest in his signature, albeit with Hermoso himself, evidently, yet to be convinced.
In turn, it will no doubt mark a source of interest to those of a Manchester United persuasion to hear that the board at Old Trafford are the latest to have discussed the Spaniard’s potential addition.
As per Fabrizio Romano:
‘Mario Hermoso has been discussed as [an] option at Manchester United, still available as [a] free agent after leaving Atlético.’
United’s priority remains securing a deal for Bayern Munich star Noussair Mazraoui, but internal discussions surrounding Hermoso are ongoing.
