Barcelona sporting director Deco has today provided an insight into the respective futures of João Félix and João Cancelo at the club.
Both frontman Félix and defender Cancelo, of course, sealed temporary moves to Catalunya last summer.
The latter, in particular, has since proven himself a hit in Xavi’s squad, acting as a pivotal member of Barcelona’s backline on his way to four goals and four assists across 32 appearances.
Félix’s stint, on the other hand, has been more of a hit-and-miss affair, with the same inconsistencies to have plagued the 24-year-old throughout his career having largely continued in Blaugrana colours.
His talent, though, remains absolutely unquestionable, with Félix’s penchant for stepping up in big moments highly appreciated behind the scenes at the Camp Nou.
In turn, it should not come as a major surprise to hear that Barcelona are keen to keep hold of both Joãos, beyond the summer.
Speaking in an interview with Què T’hi Jugues on Wednesday, the aforementioned Deco was drawn on the club’s plans for Félix and Cancelo alike.
And the former Blaugrana midfielder went on to confirm that:
“If the situation turns out like last season, João Cancelo and João Félix are players we want to keep.”
