December opening, 2 stands & reduced capacity: Barcelona’s Camp Nou latest

An update on the ongoing redevelopment of La Liga giants Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium has been forthcoming on Wednesday.

The info comes courtesy of Mundo Deportivo, and is no doubt set to pique attentions across the club’s loyal fanbase.

As confirmed by Joan Laporta earlier this month, it is first reiterated that the plan remains for the new-look Spotify Camp Nou to be opened to the public in December of this year.

Initially, however, some restrictions will be in place.

MD point towards just two of the four stands as being in line to be ready for use, for the 2nd-half of next season.

This means that initial capacity will be set around the 65,000 mark, with 50% of the VIP areas also expected to be up and running.

It is too worth noting that the stand covers have not been scheduled for completion until next year, meaning, in the case of rain, the Grandstand will be open to the elements.

From here, the hope is that 90% of the ground will be available for use for the beginning of the 2025/26 campaign, before the project is completed in its entirety the following summer.
