Dani Olmo’s Barcelona presentation delayed

The presentation of Dani Olmo as the latest addition to the first-team setup at La Liga giants Barcelona has been hit with a delay.

That’s according to widespread sources on Thursday, who point towards the ceremony as having been pushed back by several days.

The name of attacking midfielder Olmo has of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last 48 hours.

This comes after confirmation was forthcoming that the powers that be at the Camp Nou had finally wrapped up a definitive agreement with their counterparts at RB Leipzig, over the signing of the 26-year-old.

Olmo, for his part, has since made his way to Barcelona, and undergone his medical checks with his new club.

The widespread expectation, in turn, was that he was set to be at the centre of a lavish unveiling ceremony, potentially as early as Friday.

As alluded to above, however, the Blaugrana faithful, in fact, will be forced to wait for as much.

As confirmed by Ferran MartĂnez of Mundo Deportivo, Olmo is in line to sign his contract as a new Barca player tomorrow afternoon, before facing the media in the hours following.

Joan Laporta and co, though, have come to the decision that the ideal moment to unveil the Euro 2024 winner in front of the club’s supporters is next Monday.

This will allow the ceremony to fit around the latest edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy, an outing in which Olmo is expected to play his part.
