Valencia have informed Italian right-back Cristiano Piccini of their decision to recall him from his loan spell at Serie A side Atalanta, according to Valencia-based journalist Héctor Gómez.
The 28-year-old was due to stay in Italy until the end of the current season, however Los Che and Atalanta must now work on an agreement to cancel his loan spell. Piccini has only played once for Gian Piero Gasperini’s team this season.
With the likely return of the full-back to Mestalla, head coach Javi Gracia will have two right-backs to count on, including Thierry Correia and Piccini, and therefore Daniel Wass can be played in midfield. Piccini’s contract at Valencia runs until 2022.
