‘Crazy’ – On-loan Barcelona star the latest to heap praise on Pau Cubarsí

A member of the Barcelona loan army has today moved to reveal his appreciation for breakthrough Blaugrana talent Pau Cubarsí.

Youngster Cubarsí has of course exploded onto the scene in Catalunya across the year to date.

After first being afforded a chance to impress by boss Xavi amid a personnel crisis at the heart of Barcelona’s backline, La Masia’s latest sensation has since gone on to establish himself as a near-undisputed first-team starter.

Just weeks ago, Cubarsí, at just 17, scooped Man of the Match honours owing to a frankly remarkable display en route to Barca sending Napoli packing from the Champions League.

It therefore did not even mark a surprise when the defender was afforded a maiden call-up to the Spanish senior squad for the country’s friendlies against Colombia and Brazil.

He then went on to feature in both, too, looking a near shoo-in for a spot in Luis de la Fuente’s Spain setup for the upcoming European Championships.

Asked on Thursday for his thoughts on the talents of a player who could well end his chances of carving out a place for himself at Barcelona next season, in turn, was Eric García.

And the 23-year-old, currently in the midst of a loan stint with Girona, went on to both reveal his appreciation for Cubarsí, and call for ‘patience’ for he and Blaugrana teammate Lamine Yamal:

“Cubarsí? I actually saw him because he came to train with us last season and he looked like a kid,” García began, during an interview with RAC1. “He performs at a very high level but with young people you have to be patient, like Lamine too. What they do is crazy but you have to be patient.”
