Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has made clear his ongoing faith in the talents of Blaugrana defender Gerard Martín.
This comes amid confirmation that the 23-year-old has been chosen to continue at centre-back in the club’s next outing.
Barcelona are of course primed to return to action in short order, in a La Liga meeting with Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid.
The matchup marks a crucial one in the ongoing battle for supremacy in Spain’s top-flight.
And as alluded to above, Gerard Martín has been entrusted to play his part from the off by Blaugrana boss Hansi Flick.
As per a report from club insider Carlos Monfort of Diario Sport:
‘Gerard Martín will start as a center-back today against Atlético de Madrid, partnering with Cubarsí in the heart of the defence.’
Despite the likes of Eric García and Andreas Christensen being available, left-back Martín’s impressive showing against Deportivo Alavés over the weekend has proven enough to convince the Barcelona coaching staff of his readiness to continue in his new-found role.
