La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have this week tied up a deal for a leading member of the club’s summer transfer wishlist.
The player in question? Álex Baena.
The name of midfielder Baena has of course proven a prominent one in the headlines in Spain’s capital for some time now.
This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the Spanish international – fresh off another stellar season with Villarreal – had emerged as Atlético Madrid’s no.1 transfer target for next season.
And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media on Friday is anything to go by, the Rojiblancos appear all set to land their man.
As per a report from Fabrizio Romano, citing journalist David Medina, the respective boards at the Metropolitano and La Cerámica have agreed on the terms of a transfer for Baena with the potential to reach €50 million:
‘Álex Baena to Atlético Madrid, here we go! Agreement in place with Villarreal. Transfer fee will be €45m plus €5m add-ons. Details being sorted then medical as ‘medinamarca’ reported.
