Concern for Barcelona in João Cancelo move

La Liga giants Barcelona will be forced to contend with a number of rival suitors in their efforts to extend João Cancelo’s terms with the club beyond the summer.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have today provided an insight into the latest word surrounding the full-back’s future.

It is of course common knowledge that the powers that be at Barcelona have already come to the decision to seek out a new deal for Cancelo this summer.

As much comes with the Portuguese in the midst of a fine campaign with Xavi’s troops, on loan from Manchester City.

Reports across the week to date, however, have pointed towards the brass in Catalunya eyeing up another temporary move for Cancelo, rather than a permanent one.

And herein lies the problem.

As per the aforementioned Sport, a number of clubs from the Saudi Pro League are ready to put money on the table for the 29-year-old this summer.

This, for understandable reasons, represents an altogether more attractive prospect for parent club Man City, who have long made clear their readiness to part with Cancelo for good.

It will therefore be up to the defender himself to rebuff the interest from the Middle East, if Barcelona are to have any chance of keeping hold of him for next season.
