Atlético Madrid among clubs showing interest in Jordi Alba

Jordi Alba is a free agent after deciding to leave Barcelona and will join a new club this summer.

Mundo Deportivo report that he wanted to leave the Catalan outfit without having anything closed with any potential clubs despite what has been said about offers from Saudi Arabia.

It was after announcing his departure from Barça that several European sides contacted his agent Vicente Forés. The three clubs showing interest in the Spain international are Atlético Madrid, Champions League finalists Inter Milan and Portuguese giants Benfica.

Atlético left-back Reinildo is currently injured, while Benfica have already announced the departure of Alejandro Grimaldo. The Italians, for their part, have always had Alba in mind but financial fair play didn’t previously allow them to go ahead with the move.

Alba, 34, leaves Barcelona after a successful spell at Camp Nou despite having one more year on his contract, and is now set for a new club and possibly a new league.
