‘Close to breakthrough’ – Chelsea & Atlético Madrid €5m apart in João Félix talks

A fresh insight into the ongoing negotiations between La Liga giants Atlético Madrid and their counterparts at Chelsea, over a deal for João Félix, has on Sunday been provided.

And the info points towards the two sides inching ever closer to an agreement.

It is of course now common knowledge that Chelsea have opened talks with their Atlético counterparts, over the possibility of bringing frontman Félix back to the club, on this occasion on a permanent basis.

After the Blues opted to pull the plug on their move for Samu Omorodion at the last minute, the name of Félix returned to the fore, as discussions over Conor Gallagher’s Madrid switch continue to rumble on, too.

And, as alluded to above, this weekend, a deal being struck looks closer than ever before.

As per a report from transfer insider Ben Jacobs, Chelsea’s latest proposal for the Portuguese came in at the €45 million mark, including bonuses.

Atléti, for their part, are holding out for closer to €50 million, but with the gap in valuation now down to just €5 million, a ‘breakthrough’ is labelled as ‘close’.
