Chimy Ávila: “I almost became a Barcelona player.”

Speaking on Club Octubre 947, Osasuna’s Argentine striker Chimy Ávila admitted he was close to joining Barcelona before he got injured against Levante in January.

I almost became a Barcelona player, but it didn’t happen. A lot of people thought it was going to happen, including myself, I was on a great run of form. I can’t complain about the team I’m currently playing with or its people. Osasuna is comparable to some clubs in South America.”

Barcelona eventually brought in Danish striker Martin Braithwaite from Leganés to cover the injured duo of Luis Suárez and Ousmane Dembélé.
