La Liga outfit Rayo Vallecano have early this week received a new proposal for star defender Pep Chavarría.
This comes amid an onoing push on the part of Premier League heavyweights Chelsea to bring the 28-year-old to west London for next season.
The Blues are on the hunt for reinforcements at left-back at present, following the departure of Spanish international Marc Cucurella for Real Madrid.
Chavarría, fresh off a fine individual campaign in the colours of the aforementioned Rayo, has in turn been identified as a priority target at Stamford Bridge.
And as alluded to above, after seeing an initial proposal knocked back, Chelsea have on Monday come back to the table.
As per a report from Marca transfer insider Matteo Moretto:
‘Chelsea are accelerating their pursuit of Pep Chavarría. The latest developments are as follows: Chelsea have submitted a new offer for the Spanish player, which, including a fixed fee and bonuses, reaches €25 million.’
Chavarría, for his part, has already reached a contract agreement with the English outfit, hopeful of a similar accord being found between the two clubs as soon as possible.
