César Azpilicueta: “London is my home.”

César Azpilicueta gave an interview to Cadena SER, which also appeared on AS.

The 33-year-old, who is part of Spain’s World Cup squad, is looking forward to their round of last 16 match against Morocco:

“Now comes the good part and we have to show what we are capable of. We are very excited. The team has the ambition and enthusiasm to play a good game against Morocco and go through to the quarter-finals.”

He also discussed what he thinks makes Spain tick:

“We are one of the few teams that look like a team and that has been achieved through the work we put in daily and our style of play.”

Azpilicueta also revealed why he decided to stay at Chelsea and turn down the chance to move to Barcelona:

“At Chelsea I played less than 30 games and I was already a free agent. It had never happened to me in my life. But the new owners arrived and showed me that they wanted to keep me. London is my home and my children speak better English than Spanish. When I made the decision I think Xavi understood. If things are clear, they are understood.”
