Celta Vigo star misses training with injury concern

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga outfit Celta Vigo was unable to train alongside his teammates at the club’s base on Wednesday.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing information from Celta themselves, who point towards Marcos Alonso as the player in question.

Stopper Alonso was for his part forced to sit out his side’s final outing ahead of the international break, this past weekend.

As much came owing to a niggling knee complaint.

The hope was that this absence came as little more than a precaution, with Alonso continuing to act as an important figure in boss Claudio Giráldez’s squad.

As alluded to above, though, as of Wednesday, the former Chelsea and Barcelona man has still not recovered.

As per a report from MD:

‘Defender Marcos Alonso was unable to train with his teammates on Wednesday due to discomfort in his right knee. The Celta centre-back did individual training this morning at the Afouteza sports city.’
