Celta Vigo finally tie up deal for Real Betis star

The board at Celta Vigo have early this week put in place an agreement to land a leading member of the club’s summer transfer wishlist.

That’s according to market insider Matteo Moretto, who points towards Borja Iglesias as the player in question.

Frontman Iglesias for his part spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Celta Vigo.

And the 32-year-old, for the most part, went on to impress. Across 37 total league appearances (24 starts), Iglesias racked up 11 goals, and three assists.

This haul included a hat-trick at champions Barcelona back in April.

Celta Vigo, in turn, had long kicked into gear negotiations with their counterparts at Real Betis, over a permanent deal for Iglesias.

And as alluded to above, after several months of contrasting reports regarding the status of these talks, on Monday, the Celestes finally appear to have landed their man.

As per a report from journalist Matteo Moretto:

‘Borja Iglesias to Celta, agreement finalized between the parties as reported by AFDLP. The clubs are already exchanging documents.’
