Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti last night confirmed that he has forwarded one last message to Toni Kroos, regarding his decision to retire.
The name of midfielder Kroos, of course, took its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital once more on Saturday.
As much came after the German icon took to the pitch in the colours of Real Madrid for the very last time.
After announcing his decision to hang up his boots in the summer, Kroos was afforded a starting berth, en route to Los Blancos sealing glory once again in the finale of the Champions League.
Speaking to the media post-match at Wembley, it therefore came as little surprise when the name of his departing midfielder was put to boss Carlo Ancelotti once more.
And the Italian, in his response, couldn’t help but reveal his hope that when all is said and done, Kroos could yet change his mind, to continue playing for another season:
“I have told Toni Kroos that we are waiting for him in case he changes his mind (raises eyebrow).”
