Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has on Sunday provided an update on the future of an important member of his squad.
The player in question? Andriy Lunin.
The name of goalkeeper Lunin has of course taken its place front and centre in the transfer chatter in Madrid throughout much of the summer to date.
This comes with the Ukrainian, amid understandable frustration with the prospect of another season behind Thibaut Courtois in the Blancos pecking order, having been tipped to seek out a departure as a result.
A number of clubs from across the continent are understood to boast an interest in his services, with Lunin having made clear his talents during an extended run in the Real Madrid XI last season.
Speaking to the media on the back of his side’s 3-0 victory victory over Real Valladolid on Sunday evening, the subject of the future of his no.2 was, in turn, put to boss Carlo Ancelotti once more.
And, in news which will no doubt delight all of a Blancos persuasion, the Italian went on to confirm that Lunin will be going nowhere before the transfer deadline:
“Lunin is staying”
