Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Federico Valverde has not as of yet been declared fit for the club’s upcoming showdown with Manchester City.
The name of midfielder Valverde took its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital on Monday.
This came after word was forthcoming that the Uruguayan played no part in group training alongside the rest of his teammates.
Just 48 hours out from Real’s Champions League playoff 2nd leg meeting with the aforementioned Man City, such news came as an understandable concern for the Blancos faithful.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Valverde’s wellbeing was put to headmaster Carlo Ancelotti.
And the Italian did not provide the kind of definitive answer which his side’s fans would have been hoping for, admitting:
“We need to see how Valverde is feeling. He has discomfort from the last match. Asencio could play at right-back.”
