Calls have on Thursday mounted amongst the Barcelona fanbase for a member of the club’s defensive ranks to stay put through the summer and beyond.
The player in question? Andreas Christensen.
Barcelona of course marked their return to action a short time ago, making the trip to South Korea for a friendly meeting with FC Seoul.
When all was said and done, the Blaugrana made it two wins from two on their pre-season tour of Asia, courtesy of a dominant 7-3 triumph.
The aforementioned Christensen, for his part, was forced to watch on from the off in the clash, before being introduced to proceedings at the interval.
And to say that the Dane went on to make a positive impression would be putting it lightly.
Adding a new element of poise and control to Barca’s backline, Christensen looked a player rejuvenated following an injury-hit season last time out.
Not only that, but the former Chelsea man added his name to the scoreline courtesy of a brilliant drive from distance.
And such exploits did not go at all unappreciated across the Blaugrana fanbase…
This comes amid widespread calls for Christensen to both stay put for the campaign ahead, and play a prominent role in Hansi Flick’s XI.
