Beşiktaş make contact over January deal for Barcelona star

Turkish giants Beşiktaş have made first contact over a winter deal for a member of the goalkeeper ranks at Barcelona.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who highlight Marc-André ter Stegen as the player in question.

Ter Stegen is of course widely expected to be on the move during the January transfer window.

As much comes with the German, fresh off a long-term spell on the sidelines through injury, having been relegated to 3rd-choice in the pecking order between the posts in Hansi Flick’s squad.

Ahead of next summer’s World Cup, Ter Stegen is therefore aware that he will require a move elsewhere, to secure the game time needed to clinch a place in Julian Nagelsmann’s squad.

And as alluded to above, this week, a new option has emerged for the 33-year-old.

As per a report from Sport, Beşiktaş have set their sights firmly on a mid-season deal for Ter Stegen.

In fact, the Turkish outfit have gone as far as to make contact with both Barcelona and Ter Stegen’s entourage, to gauge his interest in a move to Istanbul.

It now remains to be seen if the shot-stopper is indeed open to taking his talents to Beşiktaş.
