Besiktas join hunt for Espanyol star

Turkish heavyweights Besiktas have positioned themselves in the race for Espanyol star Javi Puado ahead of the summer.

That’s according to Marca, citing Turkish outlet ‘Sabah’, who have on Tuesday provided an insight into the situation.

The subject of frontman Puado’s expiring terms have of course long positioned themselves front and centre in the headlines in Barcelona.

This comes with Espanyol’s captain due to see his contract run out upon the conclusion of the campaign.

The brass at RCDE Stadium have long been hard at work behind the scenes to find an agreement over an extension, but, to date, Puado has showcased little intent when it comes to the possibility of signing as much.

This has given rise to mounting interest in a player who, despite the collective struggles of his club, has racked up 11 goals and three assists this season.

And as alluded to above, early this week, yet another outfit have been credited with an interest in landing Puado on a free transfer.

As per Marca:

‘According to reports from the Turkish newspaper Sabah, one of the most important media outlets in Turkey, Besiktas is reportedly interested in the Espanyol striker.’
