Bayern Munich – boasting €150m transfer budget – set sights on 2nd Barcelona star

The powers that be at German heavyweights Bayern Munich are ready to return to the negotiating table for a headline member of the midfield ranks at Barcelona.

That’s according to Relevo, who have on Friday provided an insight into the latest on Bayern’s plans for the summer transfer window.

The Bavarians, amid what has proven an alarming domestic campaign to date, are understood to have prepared a sizable warchest with which to reinforce the club’s playing squad for next season.

On top of the funds raised through sales, the transfer team at the Allianz Arena will be armed with €150 million to secure fresh blood over the months ahead.

And the ranks under the watch of Xavi at the aforementioned Barcelona figure centrally in their plans.

With Ronald Araújo still firmly on Bayern’s radar, it is now claimed that Frenkie de Jong, too, is back on the agenda in Munich.

Dutch international De Jong has been tipped to link up with the Bundesliga giants on a number of occasions in the past, with Relevo having confirmed that their interest is set to be reignited with a view to the 2024/25 campaign.

The midfielder himself is understood to be happy in Catalunya, eager to continue his adventure in Blaugrana colours through next season and beyond.

But the Camp Nou brass, in the knowledge that funds are needed to realign with the 1:1 rule, could be open to a sale, in the case of an offer in the region of €60-70 million being received.
