Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso is keeping an eye on Girona’s Aleix García

Lots of European clubs are already starting to look at Girona as a marketplace for talent following their strong showing in La Liga this season.

Bayer Leverkusen are no exception, with their boss Xabi Alonso keeping a keen eye on midfielder Aleix García.

Marca have reported that Bayer Leverkusen are one club with the financial power and the desire to make a move happen, alongside Barcelona.

García, who is one of the Catalan club’s leaders and has attracted praise for his excellent form as a pivot in Girona’s midfield, will need to receive a very tempting offer to have his head turned from the prospect of playing Champions League football at Montilivi.

The 26-year-old’s market value has been estimated to be around the €20 million mark, making him a hot prospect for any club looking for a solid defensive midfielder.

Girona will be hoping that the rumours are just talk, and that they can keep their stars from last season happy to play for the club next season and build upon their strong performances.
