Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski speaks out on Lamine Yamal controversy

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has spoken out over the recent controversy surrounding his name.

This comes after the Pole caused something of a storm, during Barca’s La Liga meeting with Alavés on Sunday.

Despite proving himself a match-winner courtesy of a much-needed brace, Lewandowski was heavily criticised for an exchange with teammate Lamine Yamal, which saw him completely ignore the youngster’s efforts to shake hands.

Speaking to the media whilst on international duty earlier today, it therefore came as little surprise when the situation was put to Lewandowski himself.

The former Bayern Munich man, though, was keen to play the subject down.

Adamant that his blanking of Yamal was a ‘total accident’, Lewandowski assured that he maintains an excellent relationship with his young teammate:

“Honestly, there’s not much to comment on because it was a total accident. As far as my relationship with him is concerned, I have helped him many times and given him advice, even in this game. It’s normal to say or shout something on the pitch. The whole situation is a total accident.”
