Barcelona’s plan for Marcus Rashford when Raphinha returns from injury

An insight into the plans of the coaching staff at La Liga giants Barcelona for Marcus Rashford following the return to fitness of teammate Raphinha has this weekend been provided.

The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, and confirms that the Englishman is expected to be returned to the role which he was first brought in to fill: super sub.

Rashford has of course played a far more prominent role in Catalunya’s capital than initially expected across the early months of the season.

As much comes owing to the injury problems in Hansi Flick’s squad, chiefly the ongoing absence of Raphinha.

And the on-loan Manchester United man, to his credit, has taken full advantage to the tune of 13 direct goal contributions in all competitions.

Such production, however, will not be enough for Rashford to maintain his starter status.

As per Sport, owing in large part to Raphinha’s superior defensive work and crucial role off the ball in Barcelona’s setup, the Brazilian, upon his return to the pitch following the international break, will take over Rashford’s minutes.
