An insight into the plans of Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick to deal with the absence of midfield standout Pedri for the weeks ahead has on Friday been provided.
The info comes courtesy of Mundo Deportivo, and confirms that the most likely scenario at present is a three-man engine room setup as follows:
Frenkie de Jong – Marc Casadó – Fermín López
In the case of such a trio being utilised, De Jong, it is claimed, would be shifted into a more advanced role, with Casadó taking over the more defensive berth at the base of midfield.
Fermín will also likely continue to be favoured over Dani Olmo, owing to the former’s superior ability to get around the pitch and contribute on both sides of the ball.
Another more unorthodox option for Hansi Flick and his staff would be to call upon reserve team talent Tommy Marqués, fresh off the 19-year-old’s debut call-up to senior training in Catalunya’s capital.
