Barcelona’s international break injury crisis

Several Barcelona players were injured on international duty, note Marca.

Ronald Araújo had to be substituted within the first minute during Uruguay’s fixture against Iran. It is believed that the defender is suffering from muscular problems in the right abductor. Araújo left the national team and is expected to arrive in Barcelona today to undergo further tests.

Jules Koundé suffered a hamstring injury during France’s Nations League match against Austria. The player, who is in Barcelona already, is expected to be sidelined for at least three weeks and there are serious doubts regarding whether he would recover in time for el Clásico.

Memphis Depay is currently undergoing tests in Barcelona following complains in the femoral biceps. Frenkie de Jong also returned to the Catalan capital from international duty with the Netherlands as he is struggling with a hamstring problem just like Koundé.

Four injuries in the space of a couple of days, Barcelona are finding themselves in an injury crisis following their great start to the season.
