Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick intends to afford a more prominent role to midfield starlet Marc Bernal over the weeks ahead.
This of course comes amid the ongoing injury problems in the Blaugrana’s first-team ranks.
Barcelona this week saw their fitness woes added to once more, following confirmation that Pedri is set for an extended spell on the sidelines.
With Gavi already unavailable through an injury of his own, Hansi Flick has therefore been left concerningly short on options in the middle of the park.
And as much, as alluded to above, could well culminate in a return to prominence on the part of Marc Bernal.
Youngster Bernal has of course been eased back into competitive action across the early months of the new campaign, following a year on the treatment table with an ACL injury.
As confirmed by Diario Sport, though:
‘Hansi Flick’s plan is to start giving him quality minutes in November.’
From here, should all go according to plan and Bernal prove his readiness to contribute, he will then be considered for a starting role moving forward.
