An up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has left the club’s senior coaching staff both surprised and impressed with his performance level in training.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point to Xavi Espart as the player in question.
Espart, for those not familiar with his name, is an 18-year-old defender, who chiefly operates at right-back.
The Spaniard, who opened the season plying his trade with Barca Atlétic, has long been tipped as a potential future star in the making.
Such talents, accompanied by the ongoing injury crisis in Hansi Flick’s squad, recently culminated in Espart being afforded a call-up to first-team training.
And if the latest word stemming from the media late this week is anything to go by, then the youngster appears to have taken full advantage of this opportunity to impress.
As per a report from Diario Sport:
‘Flick and his staff already knew him, but the truth is that, as SPORT has learned, his quality and how he has performed in these tests has been surprising.’
