Barcelona youngster on verge of move to Cesc Fàbregas’ Como

An up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona is close to a move to Serie A outfit Como.

The player in question? Andrés Cuenca.

Cuenca, for those not familiar with his name, is an 18-year-old defender, who chiefly lines out in a central role.

The starlet is currently plying his trade with Barca Atlètic, held in high regard across the Spanish football landscape.

Cuenca is also a regular at youth level with La Roja, an U20 international despite his tender years.

In turn, it may come as something of a surprise to learn that those in a position of power at the Spotify Camp Nou are preparing to bid farewell to their talented young stopper.

As confirmed by market insider Fabrizio Romano on Friday:

‘Como are closing in on deal to sign 18-year-old centre-back Andrés Cuenca from Barcelona, verbal agreement done. Barça will mantain heavy sell-on clause over 20% for Cuenca.’

The plan of Cesc Fàbregas’ high-flying Como, it is understood, is to loan Cuenca out for the remainder of the campaign, before bringing him back to reassess the situation in the summer.
