Barcelona star Marc Bernal has this week named the member of Hansi Flick’s squad who left he and fellow Blaugrana youngters the most surprised with the level of his game.
The player in question? Frenkie de Jong.
Midfielder De Jong has for his part of course seen his name position itself centre stage in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital this week.
As much comes after the Dutchman was rewarded for his long-term excellence with a new long-term contract.
This was then followed by Eric García heaping praise on his teammate, naming De Jong as one of Barcelona’s most ‘underrated’ players.
And as alluded to above, a day on, further commendation has been coming the way of the former Ajax talent.
Speaking during an interview with Diari Ara, as cited by Sport, Marc Bernal explained:
“We have talked about it with some teammates, who in the first days we were promoted to the first-team, he (De Jong) was the one who surprised us the most because of the technique he has. The speed also surprised me a lot. And most importantly, he did not lose a single ball.”
