An up-and-coming member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Monday been drafted into the Spanish U21 squad.
The player in question? Dani Rodríguez.
Youngster Rodríguez is for his part fresh off returning to the pitch following a long-term spell on the sidelines.
This comes after the 20-year-old, fresh off being afforded his senior Barcelona bow late last season, suffered a dislocated shoulder.
Rodríguez, in turn, was forced under the knife over the summer.
Now back fit and firing with Barca Atlètic, though, the talented winger has returned to international duty, too.
This comes amid confirmation of a last-minute call-up on the part of the Spanish U21 coaching staff.
As per a statement across La Rojita’s social media platforms on Monday:
‘Dani Rodríguez, FC Barcelona player, will join the Spanish Under-21 team on Monday, which has been training since midday and is ready for its first session of the week at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas to prepare for the matches against Norway (Friday 10th, 9 p.m., in Guadalajara) and Finland (Tuesday 14th, 6.30 p.m., in Castellón de la Plana). Meanwhile, Matías Fernández-Pardo is out.’
