Barcelona starlet Víctor Barberá is facing up to an extended incoming spell on the sidelines.
This comes after the 21-year-old was on Tuesday morning forced under the knife to repair a thigh injury suffered earlier this month.
As per a statement released across the website and social media platforms of Barca Atlètic:
‘Barça Atlètic player Víctor Barberá underwent successful surgery this Tuesday, October 28th for a rupture in the anterior rectus of his right leg.
‘The intervention was carried out at the Hospital de Barcelona and was carried out by doctors Jordi Puigdellívol and Marc Aguilar, from the Club’s Medical Services.’
It is added that Barberá is expected to spend the next five months on the treatment table in Catalunya’s capital.
As much marks a heavy blow for a Barca Atlètic outfit already short on options at centre-forward.
Barberá had for his part opened the season in fine form, notching eight direct goal contributions in seven appearances prior to his injury setback.
