An up-and-coming member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona was on Sunday dealt what could prove to be a major setback on the fitness front.
The player in question? Dani RodrĂguez.
Youngster RodrĂguez is for his part not long back from a long-term spell on the sidelines.
Working his way back towards full fitness with sights on a return to Hansi Flick’s senior squad, he was on Sunday afforded a starting berth in Barca Atlètic’s meeting with Barbastro.
As alluded to above. however, in the thick of the action, disaster struck for RodrĂguez.
Whilst dribbling towards the visitors’ penalty area in Catalunya’s capital, the 20-year-old suddenly went to ground under no contact.
After being seen to by the Blaugrana medical team, RodrĂguez was stretchered from the field of play, amid fears of a serious knee injury.
An update on the Spaniard’s wellbeing is expected over the days ahead…
