Barcelona working to increase release clause of breakthrough youngster

The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona have begun working towards tying another of the club’s breakthrough young talents down to a new contract.

That’s according to transfer insider Matteo Moretto of Relevo, who has on Sunday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

The Barca starlet in line for fresh terms? Héctor Fort.

The name of defender Fort has of course repositioned itself front and centre in Xavi’s first-team squad over the course of the last 24 hours.

This comes after the Spaniard, still just 17, enjoyed his latest impressive outing in Blaugrana colours.

En route to the club’s La Liga downing of Cádiz, Fort was made use of from the off, his eighth appearance across the length of the season to date.

Widely considered to be a star in the making by the coaching staff at Barcelona, it should in turn come as little surprise to hear of work having been kicked into gear to tie the stopper down for the long-term.

As per the aforementioned Matteo Moretto, ‘the club is negotiating with his agent a contract extension’, which will also feature a significantly increased release clause.

Fort’s current deal contains a clause set at a measly €6 million.

With the youngster himself eager to continue his development on Barca’s books, it is viewed as just a matter of time before an agreement between the parties is reached.
