La Liga giants Barcelona are actively working to secure the signature of FC Twente youngster Ruud Nijstad.
This comes amid an ongoing push on the part of the Camp Nou brass to reinforce the club’s reserve team setup before the month is out.
After tying up several low-profile deals over recent days, Barcelona are now pushing to land one of Dutch football’s standout up-and-coming talents.
Nijstad, for his part, is an 18-year-old defender, who is currently plying his trade on the books of the aforementioned Twente.
Despite his tender years, the stopper is already a regular contributor at senior level, with seven Eredivisie appearances to his name this season.
In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear of interest in Nijstad’s services beginning to mount across the continent.
It is the aforementioned Barca, though, who are understood to be pushing hardest to bring the Dutchman in.
As per a report from Diario Sport:
‘The club is working to secure Ruud Nijstad, who plays for Twente’s first team despite being only 18. He is another promising left-footed defender whose contract expires in 2027.’
