La Liga giants Barcelona found themselves rebuffed in efforts to bring in two of the club’s leading transfer targets this summer.
That’s according to Diario Sport, citing German outlet BILD, who have on Wednesday provided an insight into the situation.
It is of course common knowledge across Spain at this point that Barcelona suffered a firm rejection on the part of Athletic Club star Nico Williams back in early July.
With an agreement on the terms of a contract already in place between the parties, Nico pulled the rug from under Deco and co, to sign a new long-term deal in Bilbao.
From here, Barca turned focus towards the signing of then-Liverpool wide-man Luis Díaz.
As per Sport, however, the Colombian also knocked back the advances of the Blaugrana, in favour of joining Bayern Munich:
‘Bild, which has spoken to Bayern sporting director Max Eberl, explains that the German club were convinced that they would sign the Colombian in mid-June. What’s more, Luis Díaz rejected Barça to choose Bayern for those dates.’
Such setbacks ultimately culminated in Marcus Rashford being brought in on a season-long loan from Manchester United.
