La Liga champions Barcelona are expected to seek out fresh blood in one key area of Hansi Flick’s squad with a view to the 2nd half of the campaign.
This comes amid the understanding that Deco and co. will set about bringing in a new central defender in January.
Barca are of course fresh off seeing their flawless opening to the new campaign brought to an end on Tuesday night. After making the trip to Paris to face European champions PSG, the Blaugrana were condemned to the wrong side of a 4-2 result.
En route to defeat, the most glaring weakness in the visitors’ squad was laid bare, as the lack of depth at the heart of Hansi Flick’s backline was badly exposed.
In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear of Deco and co. preparing to address this concern in the winter. As per a report from Fichajes:
‘Barcelona have an urgent need to resolve a problem they couldn’t address during the summer. Now, they face the task of signing a defender in the winter transfer window.’
Specifically, the Camp Nou brass are on the lookout for a new left-footed centre-back.
