Athletic Club star and Barcelona transfer target Nico Williams regrets knocking back the approach of the latter for his signature last summer.
That’s according to Spanish football insider Carlos Monfort, who has this week provided an insight into the 22-year-old’s mindset at present.
The name of wide-man Nico has of course dominated the headlines in Spain once more over recent weeks.
This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the aforementioned Barcelona have reignited their pursuit of the Spanish international.
After trying and failing to bring Nico in 12 months ago, Deco and co. have launched a fresh offensive for the gifted attacker with a view to next season.
Amid a concerted effort on the part of Athletic to scupper the plans of their La Liga rivals, however, the deal has been made to look an altogether complicated one.
And owing to as much, Nico has himself been left with ‘regrets’ regarding the situation.
As per the aforementioned Carlos Monfort, cited by the reliable Reshad Rahman on ‘X’, the winger has conveyed the following messages to those closest to him:
- “I want to join Barcelona this time no matter what.”
- “I regret what happened last year.”
- “I don’t care about registration issues nor their financial situation.”
- “I really want to play for them.”
