Barcelona transfer target ready to cut wages in half to join the club

Departing Manchester City star Bernardo Silva is ready to accept a substantial wage reduction to ensure his dream of donning the colours of La Liga giants Barcelona comes true.

This comes as the two parties inch closer to an agreement to join forces for the 2026/27 campaign.

Midfielder Bernardo is of course primed to bring a close to his long-term stint on the books of Man City this summer, upon the expiration of his contract terms.

Barcelona, in turn, have over recent days positioned themselves firmly in the race for the signature of the Portuguese international.

And if the latest word stemming from the media on Friday is anything to go by, then Bernardo appears ready to do whatever it takes to ensure that a Camp Nou switch comes to fruition.

As per a report from Portuguese outlet A Bola, the Barca brass are ready to offer the 32-year-old a deal worth around €8 million-per-season. Around half of what Bernardo was earning in England, he is nevertheless eager to accept the proposal as soon as possible.

A signing-on bonus will also likely be included for the former Monaco man and his representatives.
