La Liga giants Barcelona are expected to tie up their first signing of the summer at some point next week.
That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Joan García as the player primed to link up with the Blaugrana.
Goalkeeper Joan has of course long emerged as a leading candidate to reinforce Hansi Flick’s Barca squad with a view to next season.
After it was decided behind the scenes at the Camp Nou that securing reinforcements between the posts was a priority over the months ahead, Joan’s name was quickly circled in red.
This comes with the 24-year-old fresh off a spectacular individual season on the books of Espanyol.
With Joan’s contract at the RCDE Stadium containing a release clause set at just €25 million, all that was required was for Deco and co. find an agreement on the terms of a contract with the player.
As much has now been reached, with Joan primed to put pen to paper on a five-year deal in Catalunya’s capital.
As per the aforementioned Fabrizio Romano, it can therefore be assumed that:
‘Joan García will become a new Barça player next week, plan confirmed. Barça informed Joan that his €25m release clause will be paid to Espanyol next week.’
